Home computers usually use temporary, unreliable connections to the internet such as broadband or dial-up networking. Even with broadband, services are contended (shared) and upload speeds are usually very slow (256kbits in the uk). Servers though use switches and routers which are far more reliable and a great deal faster (100mbits). London is the best place in the UK for internet connections and LINX is the biggest network that lives there. (80 gbits of traffic)
Therefore, all of our main servers are located in London data centres with LINX connectivity. Teams of people are employed to maintain a continuous security presence. Also, power, networks and servers have to be monitored and maintained - so qualified engineers are on site, ready to deal with any situation that might arise.
