Introduction

For the ultimate in control and configuration in website hosting we can provide dedicated servers for as little as £40 per month excluding VAT. The servers have the latest version of Debian preinstalled and configured ready to host hundreds or even thousands of virtual servers. The pre-installed security updates and backup software combined with the bundled technical support give you confidence, security and the ability to provide a high level of support to your customers.

With a dedicated server you are in control of everything. You can create your own hosting and support packages for your customers. You can then add these charges to the site design and maintenace costs and create a regular source of income from your customers. For all of the accounts on your server you will be able to alter quotas, create accounts, delete accounts, change passwords, etc.

If you maintain a large site, maintain many sites, need complete control or the ability to install and configure software packages on the server then you will want a dedicated server.

These servers have been preinstalled with Debian Linux (Version: Sarge), webmin, virtualmin, sendmail. mysql, php, apache v2 and much more. Using webmin you will be able to monitor the performance of your server, add new websites, monitor your customers, create mail accounts, reboot the server, apply security updates and much more. These servers have been configured to give you high quality, secure hosting in an easy to use way.

Additional Services

Customisation is often available for a sensible fee so that disc space, memory or the CPU can be upgraded as needed to meet existing demands or to add new capacity. For an additional fee, server management is available - we monitor your server on a daily basis and carry out any essential maintenance tasks, inform you of any important actions, and reccommend upgrades your server might need.

More bandwidth, or another domain name etc, extra drives, memory, etc can be added to the accounts above. If what you want is not listed then please get in touch, we may be able to help.

Custom Servers

If the dedicated servers listed above are not powerful enough for your requirements then you are going to have to think much bigger - raid arrays, and multiple multi-core CPUs, are what is usually needed. If you need a custom server then we can build and test the system in Colchester - and then locate the server in London once everything is to your satisfaction. The system can be stress tested in Colchester by 'hammering' the system with other computers, servers etc until it 'breaks'. The system can then be upgraded, modified, or tuned and tested again.

Multi-Server Netting

Sometimes you will want or need several servers. One for general use by multi-users, and another for the secure transactions, etc. VPNs, private networks and multiple network cards is the way to do this and these features are available if you need them. It often costs less to use several servers than it does to have one powerful one.

Bandwidth

Bandwidth on dedicated servers is charged by the megabit and cannot be converted to gigabytes / month with a simple formula because of the day/night differences etc. The maximium is 300 Gbytes per month per megabit, but is usually about half of that. If you are using webalizer or similar software to charge your clients then the figure is more likely to be about 20% because of DNS and email traffic etc.

Extra bandwidth is available at £20.00 (£27.50) per megabit.
